ATO veteran says how the battles in Kursk region and Donbas differ Natalia Belzetskaya

Active hostilities continue in the Kursk region, and troops from North Korea may soon appear on the battlefield. The Russians have been trying to organize a full-fledged offensive there for a long time, which is no weaker than in the Donetsk region.

An anti-terrorist operation veteran Yevgeny Diky shared this opinion with Channel 24, noting that Russia used the maximum forces it could in Kursk region. Then it was forced to withdraw troops from Ukraine.

What is the difference between Kursk region and Donbass

The occupiers had to withdraw three divisions from our front. They took them not from Donetsk region, where things are hot now, but from Kherson region. However, they are talking about the three most combat-ready divisions. Only after such a transfer of forces were the Russians able to go on the offensive in Kursk region.

This is an indication that they simply have no combat-ready units left. When the occupiers realized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not leave the Kursk region themselves, they had to weaken the front in Ukraine. Therefore, the battle is now very powerful, but it is significantly different from what we see in the Donbas.

< p class = "bloquote cke-markup" > There is no continuous front line in the Kursk region, and therefore there are no positional battles or trench warfare, as in the Donbas. There is a maneuver war there, only with the use of a much larger number of drones and other modern technologies, – noted Yevgeny Dykyi.

< p > By its nature, this is a maneuver war, like, for example, in the Kiev region in 2022. The Kursk region now has a similar landscape, there is also a wooded area in which both sides do not have a continuous line of fortifications, but only separate fortified areas. Therefore, they are actively maneuvering and trying to hit each other in the rear and flanks.

“This is not a trench war, but a highly maneuverable war, but the intensity of the fighting is absolutely comparable to Donbass,” the veteran of the anti-terrorist operation emphasized.
