The International Olympic Committee decided to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the parade at the opening of the 2024 Olympics.

The official statement from the IOC notes that representatives of Russia and Belarus will not participate in team competitions because they are individual athletes. They believe that because of this they cannot attend the parade.
At the same time, the IOC claims that they will later decide on the participation of citizens of Russia and Belarus in the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.

Recently, Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee John Coates said that up to 40 Russian athletes could take part in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
They will be required to meet the neutrality criteria as defined by the IOC.
The start of the Summer Olympic Games is scheduled for July 12, 2024. Sports competitions will last until August 11.
