The U.S. Department of Defense is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine at the direction of President Donald Trump.

This was stated in a statement by Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.

The press secretary also emphasized that the President's system for assessing military procurement around the world remains in effect and is an integral part of the defense priorities of the “America First” policy.

The decision to provide additional supplies confirms Trump's words, which he voiced during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when the American president said that the United States has a moral obligation to help Ukraine.

“We're going to have to send more weapons, we have to do that. They have to be able to defend themselves. They're being hit hard. We have to send more weapons, defensive weapons first and foremost,” Trump said.

The US President also expressed dissatisfaction with the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who refuses to stop the war against Ukraine.

“I'm disappointed that President Putin hasn't stopped,” Trump said, adding that the Kremlin leader appears to have no intention of ending the war.

Let us recall that on July 2, the Pentagon announced a temporary suspension of supplies of certain types of weapons to Ukraine, in particular air defense missiles.

However, after talking with Zelensky, Trump changed his position and said that Ukraine would still receive Patriot missiles, since Ukrainians need them for defense.
