The Russian occupation administration is placing the 5th power unit of the Zaporozhye NPP into a “cold shutdown” state. There, a few days ago, there was a leak of reagents from the primary circuit of the reactor into the second.

Writes about this press service of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is transferring its reactor unit No. 5 from a “hot” shutdown to a “cold” shutdown and intends to determine the reason for the detection of boron in the cooling circuit, leaving one of the plant’s six reactors in a hot shutdown to produce steam and heat, it says in the message.

It is noted that the 4th power unit will operate in a “hot stop” state. In addition, the occupiers assured the IAEA that they do not plan to put the 2nd power unit into a “hot shutdown” state to replace the 5th.

“After the cold shutdown, ZNPP will conduct tests to determine why low levels of boron were detected in the secondary cooling circuit of one of the power unit’s steam generators,” the statement said.

The occupation administration of the Zaporizhia NPP informed the IAEA experts who are at the plant that the concentration of boron in the corresponding cooling circuit remains below the limits allowed by its technical characteristics.

In addition, no radioactivity was found in the secondary cooling circuit. To maintain nuclear safety, borated water is used in the primary coolant.

Let us recall that on November 16 it became known that due to the criminal actions of the Russian occupiers An accident occurred at the fifth power unit of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
