Ukraine has enough evidence of Russian war crimes. However, the first sentences will probably be announced in at least 1-2 years.

Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Malyuska spoke about this on the air of the national telethon, Channel 24 reports. According to him, both Ukrainian national courts and international instances can pass sentences on the occupiers and the leadership of Russia.

These are still very fast deadlines.

Denis Malyuska drew attention to the main problem in the relevant cases – the physical detention of the perpetrators.

The jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court is supported by most countries in the world. According to the Minister of Justice, if sentences are handed down by the ICC, most countries will not even take into account diplomatic protection, for example, Vladimir Putin or his entourage.

Certainly, the full launch of these mechanisms and the first sentences – it will take at least a year – one and a half – two, – Malyuska explained.

International jurisdictions have always been slow, and “these are very fast deadlines for international courts,” the Minister of Justice of Ukraine added. It usually takes 6-8 years to answer relevant cases, perhaps even more.
