Ukraine and Russia held peace talks in Istanbul to end the war in our country. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the President's Office, assures that Ukraine has improved its position in negotiations with the occupiers.
Arestovich: After this agreement, we became a neutral state, but with guarantees
Aleksey Arestovich, on the air of the FREEDOM platform, expressed his conviction that the Ukrainian delegation had improved its positions in all areas.
According to the results of the interim agreement in Istanbul, which still has to be approved, because it is not final, Ukraine has improved all its positions in the negotiation lines, – said the adviser to the heads of the Presidential Office.
Arestovich explained his statement by how the probable status of Ukraine has changed.
“The day before yesterday we were a neutral state without guarantees. After this interim agreement, we seem to have become a neutral state, but with guarantees,” he said.
The adviser to the head of the OP stated that the Ukrainian negotiating group is doing its job very well. In confirmation of this, according to Arestovich, it may indicate that in the information space of Russia they declare “treason”.
Ukraine and Russia held negotiations: briefly
Ukrainian and Russian delegations held March 29 negotiations in Turkey. The Ukrainian side expressed its proposals to Russia.
Ukraine's proposals were not officially published, but according to media reports, it is said that:
- the Russian army should go to the brink on February 23, 2022 ( before the start of a full-scale invasion);
- a number of states of the world, including Russia, provide security guarantees to Ukraine;
- security guarantees do not apply to Crimea and ORDLO;
- Ukraine abandons NATO's course;
- Security guarantors undertake to promote Ukraine's accession to the EU;
- Ukraine and Russia have been negotiating the status of Crimea for 15 years.
