Arrived from the Middle East: SBU detained a saboteur preparing explosions on a railway

SBU detained a Russian saboteur preparing explosions on a railway/SBU

A Russian saboteur was detained in Chernivtsi. He was supposed to organize explosions at railway facilities and logistics warehouses.

Ukrainian lived in the Middle East on behalf of the occupiers

It is known that the detainee is a citizen of Ukraine. He has a Kyiv residence permit.

Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented a series of large-scale sabotage on the railway by detaining an enemy agent during a special operation in Chernivtsi, – said the spokesman of the department Artem Dekhtyarenko.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent lived in the Middle East for a long time. There he waited for a special order from his leaders. When the Russian army launched a full-scale war on Ukrainian soil, the traitor was given the task of returning to his homeland.

Here he was supposed to collect intelligence data on the transport channels for the supply of weapons and military equipment, the location of fuel tanks and the deployment of Ukrainian troops in Bukovina. Based on this information, the suspect was supposed to commit sabotage. In particular, his task was to blow up railway facilities and logistics warehouses.

The enemy agent was already informed of suspicion, and the court took him into custody. The pre-trial investigation in this case is ongoing.
