According to witnesses, a fire broke out in the lower part of the attraction and quickly spread. Despite the thick smoke that enveloped the spectators, there was no panic among them.

Attempts to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers were futile, so the Ferris wheel gondolas were immediately raised up. In fact, to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Eyewitnesses heard panicked screams from people sitting in the gondolas. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and were able to extinguish the fire. The audience thanked the rescuers with thunderous applause, writes the Leipziger Zeitung (LZ).

Despite the incident, the festival was only temporarily suspended and soon continued with the following performances. Organizers reported a technical failure as the cause of the fire.
