Kazakhstan passed a law banning arms exports to deny “by law” assistance to Russia. The Kremlin obviously hopes to get scarce weapons for the war against Ukraine.
By such measures, Nur-Sultan hopes to get rid of possible requests from Putin for military assistance in the future. Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman told channel 24 about this.
The expert noted that Kazakhstan, which had never had a law on limiting the export of its weapons, decided to adopt it so as not to help Russia.

Kazakhstan, in order not to directly deny the Russian Federation the supply of weapons, which they asked for, adopted a law banning the export of weapons for the next year. That is, the export of any weapons from Kazakhstan was banned. Obviously, Russia asked for these weapons. There was another attempt to ask for something,” the observer explained.
In his opinion, Kazakhstan probably has Chinese drones in its army, which the Kremlin really needs in the war against Ukraine. At the same time, he denies the view that the law was adopted to start arming his army in preparation for a possible Russian aggression.
“In order to arm ourselves, to ban the export of weapons, the adoption of a law on the prohibition of sales is not required. They would adopt a program on rearmament, but the law on the export ban says that Kazakhstan will automatically respond to Russia's requests, they say, according to the “law it is impossible,” – Sheitelman summed up.
