To the south of Lysichansk, the enemy also tried to advance in the direction of the settlement of Ustinovka, but the Ukrainian defenders rejected the invaders. In the area of the settlement Toshkivka, the enemy offensive was not successful.
Severodonetsk and Lysychansk remain the last two cities in the Luhansk region that did not fall under Russian occupation. The enemy is trying to capture these cities in order to reach the administrative border with the Donetsk region for a further attack on Ukraine.
The Russian occupiers are also actively attacking Bakhmut, trying to reach the highway connecting the city with Lisichansk. They need this to cut off the supply of Ukrainian forces in Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. They attack the city from different sides, attacking settlements near various weapons.
The Ukrainian military notes that on June 7, in the Bakhmut direction, the enemy increased the intensity of the use of operational-tactical and army aviation. He fired at the positions of our units with mortars, cannon artillery and multiple launch rocket systems in the areas of the settlements of Pokrovskoye, Berestovoye, Zolotoe-4, Vrubovka, Maiskoye, Yakovlevka and Dolomitnoye. Inflicted air strikes by Ka-52 helicopters in the areas of the settlements of Pokrovskoe, Vozrozhdeniye and Yakovlevka.
In the area of the settlement of Nagornoe, as a result of fire damage inflicted by Ukrainian soldiers, the enemy withdrew to previously occupied positions.
June 7 alone, the defenders and defenders of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Lugansk directions repulsed eleven attacks of the enemy. During these attacks, three tanks, five artillery systems, two armored combat vehicles, thirteen vehicles and three enemy ammunition depots were destroyed.
