Russia has been terrorizing the civilian population of Ukraine with rocket attacks for the second day. However, Ukraine's air defense is working to keep damage and destruction as low as possible.
It was thanks to the armed forces on October 11 that explosions in the capital were avoided. Mayor Vitali Klitschko spoke about this on the air of the telethon.

Thanks to our Armed Forces, several missiles were shot down on approach to Kyiv. And therefore I can say that today started normally without any incidents, – Vitali Klitschko said.

Consequences of shelling on the first day of the Russian attack
The mayor of Kyiv said that the amount of damage caused by the shelling of the Russians had already been calculated. Thus, more than 70 buildings were damaged. Of these:
- • 5 critical infrastructure facilities for housing and communal services,
- • 6 educational institutions, of which 3 schools, a kindergarten and 2 buildings for out-of-school education,
- • 2 object of social education,
- • 6 institutions of culture,
- • 5 institutions of healthcare,
- • 2 administrative buildings.
However, despite on the volume of damage, significant damage did not occur. In the vast majority of these houses, the windows were shattered by the blast. “Resettlement does not need any of these houses, but temporarily people can move until the windows are put in,” Vitali Klitschko said.

October injured and died. Infrastructure and more than 15 vehicles were also damaged. A lion at the zoo was also injured. He was very frightened by loud explosions and tried to get out of the enclosure, because of which he received a head wound.
