Anxiety has changed to outrage: why the world was not ready to resist rashism

War crimes in Ukraine are a consequence of Russia's impunity/photo by Mikhail Podolyak

In 2008, the world watched Russia destroy Georgia with impunity. In 2014, he pointedly closed his eyes to the occupation of Crimea and the destruction of Donbass. The leaders of the world spoke of their deep concern, while the rashists did what we just saw in Bucha.

Did the leaders of Germany, France, the USA, Austria and other countries know about the mass executions, rapes, torture and humanitarian catastrophe back in 2014? They could not help but know, but everything suited them. Foreign media only talked about the very fact of the war, but called the occupying troops “pro-Russian militants”.

If we analyze publications in many leading publications in the world since 2014, one can easily understand why most Americans and Europeans only knew about that Ukraine is somewhere near Russia.

It was convenient to remain silent

All European and American officials, employees of the UN, WHO, OSCE and the Red Cross understood what really happened in Crimea and Donbass. Everyone with access to the information knew about Izolyatsia, mass graves, the downing of MH17 and other war crimes committed directly by Russia.

However, in fact, no one imposed serious sanctions. Yes, there were sectoral restrictions, but despite the ban, Dutch companies participated in the construction of the Crimean bridge, Siemens supplied its turbines to Crimea through gaskets. The rest of the German companies quietly traded weapons with the Kremlin. The French did the same, although it was forbidden by sanctions.

In addition, the European Union willingly bought gas from the Kremlin, built Nord Stream 2 and actively lobbied Russian interests. The same can be said about almost all international organizations: the UN constantly voiced deep concern, which Russia vetoed. OSCE observers walked at the weddings of militants and presented reports on “the use of weapons prohibited by Minsk in unspecified directions.”

There was also a huge pro-Russian lobby in the USA. Russian agents exiled to influential diplomats and politicians. The journalists who were bought out and recruited wrote articles with hidden pro-Russian narratives.

In general, it was quite convenient for most European politicians to condemn Russia's actions, but at the same time cooperate with the Kremlin. That is why the transfer of lethal and heavy weapons to Ukraine was blocked. Therefore, even before the direct full-scale invasion, the whole world heard that there would be no destructive sanctions before the war. Therefore, Germany and France resisted cutting off the Russian Federation from SWIFT, did not want to supply serious weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and generally tried not to interfere in the conflict.

Because of Russian money, which turned out to be more important for many institutions than their statutes and essence. Therefore, the Red Cross, having received hundreds of millions of dollars to help the Ukrainians, takes part in the illegal export of people to the occupied territories and Russia. Therefore, the volunteers of this organization do not go further than peaceful and safe Zaporozhye.

Mariupol and Bucha are symbols of Russian impunity

Who is to blame for the fact that Ukraine entered the second phase of the war against Russia without the ability to completely close the sky and without at least medium-range missile weapons is a question that needs to be answered after the hostilities. However, the Western allies fully understood how difficult the situation at the front would be, but until the start of war crimes, they held back attempts by other countries to arm the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Germany blocked the supply of weapons, France was engaged in fake peacekeeping. In general, the reaction of the EU to the war that was about to begin was reminiscent of the situation that Remarque brilliantly described in Arc de Triomphe. This book should be a reference book for every migrant, refugee and European politician, as it gives a clear understanding that the world has not changed in almost 100 years.

Residents of Donbass, who left for the free territory in 2014, knew about Russia’s war crimes, representatives of the OSCE, political elites from different countries of the world knew, but for 8 years no one was punished for them. Now the conditional Donbass has come to Gostomel, Irpin, Bucha, Kherson, Mariupol, Chernihiv, Sumy and other cities that were or were under the occupiers. Photos of innocent victims have spread all over the world publications.

Perhaps everyone knows that the Russian invaders raped women and little girls. They know this even in Russia, but they support such actions of their army. And how does the world react to this? Condemnation that replaced anxiety and concern. Germany continues to block the embargo on Russian energy, because its citizens will feel it on their own wallets. Imports of Russian gas to Europe in transit through Ukraine on April 4 rose almost to the maximum possible level. Through Georgia, Moscow is establishing a channel for the supply of sanctions products. So, trading with the aggressor continues.

Moldova is not going to impose sanctions against the Kremlin, and the large companies remaining on the Russian market will continue to work on it. Moreover, Gazprombank, on whose cards the invaders receive their salaries, still operates in the SWIFT system, and this allegedly suits everyone. The UN Secretary General condemns war crimes in Bucha, but does not name Russia responsible for them. Meanwhile, Moscow is convening the Security Council with the wording “in connection with the blatant provocation of Ukrainian radicals in Bucha.”

The world was not ready for such a crisis, which was predictable and quite predictable. The Russian monsters have come to kill us again and, if Ukraine does not stop them, they will definitely go further. Poles, Latvians and Lithuanians, Americans and British understand this, but no one wants to probe Putin's red lines. Almost everyone is terribly afraid of the beginning of the third world war, a nuclear strike and the transition of hostilities to the territories of other countries, but they are not at all against further business with Russia. These are all the consequences of the incredibly successful undercover activities of the Kremlin intelligence. Which provided such a powerful lobby that even photos from Bucha are not able to change anything. And how many similar war crimes are taking place in Kherson, Energodar, Melitopol? And how many will there be when the Russians have to leave? But Russia is still a member of the UN. And Germany is still resisting the introduction of crushing sanctions against the economy of the terrorist country. The world is simply not ready for genuine resistance to the Kremlin Fuhrer.
