Germany has faced a massive budget crisis in recent weeks. In this regard, doubts began to be heard in Berlin as to whether the country could continue to provide assistance to Ukraine.

How quickly Germany can close the hole in the budget and whether the crisis will affect military assistance to our state, about this Channel 24said Ukrainian Armed Forces officer, political scientist Taras Berezovets. Note that the German budget deficit in 2024 will reach more than 20 billion euros.

Very alarming signals for German politics< /h2>

The political scientist noticed that the problem in Germany arose a long time ago. First of all, it is associated with the “Traffic Light” coalition, the members of which are the Social Democratic Party, represented by the current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The final elections in the federal states showed growing support for anti-Islamic and anti-European forces. In particular, the nationalist and right-wing populist pro-Russian political party Alternative for Germany (AfD), which in many lands not only finished in first place, and confidently won.

All these are very alarming signals for German politics, which has always put issues of tolerance, political correctness and respect for different cultures and religions at the forefront, noted Berezovets.

However, the German society has changed its mind and does not support the trend set by Scholz and his coalition partners. The budget crisis is a matter of German domestic policy.

It will be very difficult for them, but nothing is impossible here, the political scientist added.< /p>

Germany plans to increase military support for Ukraine to 8 billion euros. However, this is not such a large amount compared to US assistance. Therefore, now there are chances that Ukraine will receive the promised support.

“Now there are no serious restraining factors. Germany does not have a two-party system, but a multi-party one. On the one hand, this complicates the situation, and on the other hand, it simplifies it, because there are no parties that can blackmail Scholz. I think that everything will be resolved positively,” concluded Berezovets.

Germany provides assistance to Ukraine

  • At the end of November, Germany provided two aid packages to Ukraine. The total amount of the first is 1 billion 300 billion. In particular, it contains air defense. The second aid package is also quite powerful. It included infantry fighting vehicles, shells and tractors.
  • Subsequently, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock promised Ukraine further support in the war with Russia. In addition, she clarified that Germany will tighten its support for Ukraine both at the level of the European Union and NATO.
  • Germany will also provide our state with another Patriot air defense system in the near future. After all, the threat of Russian attacks on infrastructure facilities is now high.
