Another record: Ukrainian Zheltyakov won the second medal at the Junior World Swimming Championship

Ukrainian Alexander Zheltyakov won the second medal at the Junior World Swimming Championships, which takes place in Netanya (Israel).

The 17-year-old athlete won a silver medal in the backstroke at 50 m distance. Zheltyakov finished with a result of 24.91 s. Gold went to the Czech Miroslav Knedl (24.80 s).

As noted at the NOC, the 17-year-old athlete became the first Ukrainian to reach the finish line in the 50 m backstroke in less than 25 seconds.

Previously, no one in the history of Ukraine among juniors and adults did not demonstrate such speed at this distance. Thus, the athlete from Dnepr set a new junior and adult record for Ukraine.

Zheltyakov is already the author of four national records of Ukraine in swimming. He has the best results at distances of 50, 100 and 200 meters on the backstroke, as well as in the mixed 4×100 m medley relay.

Previously, Zheltyakov won gold at the Junior World Championships at a distance of 100 meters on the backstroke and fulfilled the Olympic standard , having won a second license for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
