On December 30, 2024, 187 defenders and two civilians returned home from Russian captivity.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets stated that there are preliminary agreements with Russia that prisoner of war exchanges will be carried out systematically in 2025.
On December 31, 2024, President Zelensky signed a law according to which civilians who survived Russian captivity receive a deferment from mobilization.
