Italy supports Ukraine in the fight against Russian invaders. Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio arrived in the capital as a gesture of solidarity.
This was reported on August 25 at the Office of the President. Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally thanked the government of Italy and personally Prime Minister Mario Draghi, as well as the entire Italian people.
“In recent months, relations have been built between our states that have helped Ukraine survive in the struggle for our independence. Italy has become one of the leading states that supported Ukraine, our society, internally displaced citizens,” the president said.
How Italy supports Ukraine
According to Zelensky, Italy provides financial and defense support to Ukraine. In addition, Mario Draghi supported granting Ukraine the status of an EU candidate.

Zelensky stressed that Italy is important for the preparation eighth package of sanctions against the Russian invaders. The President noted the need for a visa regime for the occupiers.
