Following the recent BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit, US President Donald Trump threatened countries that support the organization with additional tariffs.
He wrote about this on his own social network.
What tariffs might Trump impose?
– Each country that joins the anti-American policy of BRICS will receive an additional duty of 10%. No exceptions. Thank you for your attention, – the message says.

It should be noted that the American president announced large-scale tariffs against most of his country's trading partners on April 2.
A 10% base rate was assumed.
However, for some countries these duties reach 50%. Trump later suspended this decision for 90 days, until July 9.
This should give time for negotiations and additional agreements. Only the basic tariff of 10% remains in effect.
What preceded Donald Trump's statement
Deutsche Welle writes that on July 6, during the summit in Rio de Janeiro, the BRICS countries expressed serious concern about tariff and non-tariff measures that “distort trade and are not in line with WTO (World Trade Organization) rules.”
In addition, these measures “threaten to further reduce world trade and disrupt global supply chains.” This could have negative consequences for global economic development.
Although the document did not mention the United States or Donald Trump personally, the media noted that it was “an obvious political salvo aimed at a resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”
