Anexia after "referendums: will the Kremlin go for broke

Occupiers announced fake “referendums” on the annexation of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region, Donetsk region, Kherson and Zaporozhye to Russia regions of Ukraine.

If pseudo-referendums do take place, they will be illegal, and Russia will face new sanctions. Volodymyr Molchanov, an activist from Kherson, told channel 24 about this.

Also, according to him, it is obvious that after that everyone will be massively mobilized.

Even though the occupiers consider even the already liberated uncontrolled territory to be part of a possible Kherson region as part of Russia or the so-called republic, the activist added .

Why do I say this, because it is very likely that after these “referenda” annexation will not follow. This is a very logical assumption,” Molchanov emphasized.

The fact is that the Russians understand that for annexation it is necessary to solve many problems that arise in the Russian budget or law enforcement system.

“Then a large mass of anti-Russian citizens of Ukraine may end up inside the territory of Russia, in their opinion, of course The authorities of the aggressor country know nothing about them. Therefore, this frightens the Russians, and therefore they are unlikely to rush into the process of the false annexation of the Kherson region,” the activist believes.

Another reason why this will not happen – forced mass mobilization. This will need to be coordinated with Russian legislation. And Russia will not “pull” this, the activist summed up.

Reaction of the President's Office to pseudo-referendums

  • Advisor to the head of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak reacted to the message of the Gauleiter of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousova that on September 20 the so-called occupation authorities would make a statement regarding the “referendum”. The traitor, on the air of propaganda media, announced his desire to annex the Kherson region to Russia.
  • Podolyak wrote that the Russian leadership comes up with a “calming” for its audience. At the same time, he stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are quietly and methodically carrying out the work of de-occupying the territories.
  • President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that any “referendum” in the occupied territories would put an end to the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, against the backdrop of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is Russia that has recently been asking for negotiations with Ukraine.
