The father of murdered Kherson activist Kateryna Handziuk, Viktor, wrote a touching letter to his daughter on her birthday. On June 17, Ekaterina would have been 37 years old.
Victor Gandzyuk began his touching letter, so to speak, with news. He said that there is a war in Ukraine and everything is happening as the activist expected.
The father stressed that in this difficult time he really misses Catherine.
Your wisdom, determination, support, warmth and smile. Every day I mentally turn to you, I ask for advice. Yes, you are silent. And sometimes you come in a dream. And we are together again, as before. And I believe that you are alive,” Viktor Handziuk wrote.
He added that every time he was afraid that she would not die again.
“I remember everything, Katya. To the smallest detail … I missed you very much. I love you. Happy birthday, daughter,” he said.
Finally, the activist's dad said:
Why- then I thought… If some miraculous power promised that I would see you alive, hug you, talk to you and immediately die, I would not hesitate for a moment.
Such words without exaggeration break the heart.

The main thing about the murder of Kateryna Handziuk
- There has not been such a cruel murder of a public activist as the murder of Kateryna Handziuk in Europe for decades. Catherine was doused with sulfuric acid on July 31, 2020. Already 3 months later, on November 4, the activist died in the hospital – she had numerous chemical burns on her body.
- The cause of the tragedy is called the activity of the activist. She fought corruption in the Kherson region and this interfered with local officials. Despite the fact that a lot of time has passed, the case is still being investigated.
- The head of the Kherson Regional Council Vladislav Manger, the intermediary of Alexei Levin, is considered to be the customer of the crime. They are in custody.
- On October 16, 2020, the Primorsky District Court of Odessa found Igor Pavlovsky guilty of concealing a crime. However, his punishment is 2 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year. Such a sentence implies Pavlovsky's release.
Let us add that on June 6, 2019, five perpetrators of the crime were convicted, including:
- Sergey Torbin (instigator) – up to 6.5 years in prison;
- Nikita Grabchuk (direct perpetrator) – up to 6 years in prison;
- Vladimir Vasyanovich and Vyacheslav Vishnevsky (tracked Ekaterina) – 4 years behind bars;
- Viktor Gorbunov (bought acid) – 3 years behind bars.
