The President added that Pavlychko will be remembered as one of the authors of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine and the organizers of the Ukrainian national movement.

How Ukraine will remember Dmytro Pavlychko

  • Pavlychko was one of the founders of the People's Movement of Ukraine and the Democratic Party of Ukraine, as well as the first chairman of the Taras Ukrainian Language Society Shevchenko.
  • In 1990, he became one of the authors of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, proclaimed by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR on July 16, and a year later, one of the co-authors of the Act of Declaration of Independence.
  • He was the first to ask then Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Leonid Kravchuk whether he supports this step.
  • In addition, Pavlychko was the author of the doctrine of the neutral and non-bloc status of Ukraine and was elected to the Verkhovna Rada three times.
  • He published a series collections of poems. He wrote sensual intimate lyrics.
  • Pavlychko's poem “Two Colors” was set to music. It has been repeatedly covered by various artists, but Dmitry Gnatiuk's performance is considered a cult one.
