Analysts have calculated how much the Askold ship destroyed in Kerch cost the Russian Federation

by alex

On November 4, as a result of explosions in occupied Kerch (Crimea), the Russian Askold launch vehicle was damaged. It costs approximately $16 million.

This was reported by Defense Express.

It is indicated that the Russian Ministry of Defense tried to recover 880 million rubles ($9.8 million) in penalties from the Pella Leningrad Shipyard due to the fact that the company was unable to deliver five ships on time under a contract concluded in 2015.

The Russian department filed a claim for payment in July 2023, but in the end the court ordered to pay 60 times less, or 14.7 million rubles ($164 thousand). This is only 1% of the total cost of the product, as Russian media began to report.

Analysts indicate that, apparently, for the Russian Ministry of Defense the cost of each of the Project 22800 Karakurt missile corvettes is calculated at 1.47 billion rubles, or approximately $16 million at the current exchange rate or $24 million at the 2015 exchange rate.

At the same time, such a price for the corvette-carrier Kalibr may look too low against the background of the fact that Ukrainian Forbes put a price tag of $750 million for the destroyed cruiser Moscow.

In addition, it turns out that one new missile corvette of Project 22800 Karakurt, according to the estimate of the Russian Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, has a cost 10 times lower than, for example, the new Tu-160M, the cost of which is approximately 15-16 billion rubles.

— All of the above demonstrates that it is actually impossible to objectively calculate the cost of Russian weapons. Moreover, this is by no means the only example when the Russian Ministry of Defense and other structures, at their discretion, “juggle” with the cost indicators of this or that type of weapon,” the report says.

On the evening of November 4, explosions occurred during an air raid in Kerch in Crimea. Later it became known that the Russian Askold launch vehicle was damaged, which was being tested for further launch into the sea and striking the territory of Ukraine.
