Czech President Petr Pavel abandoned the idea of returning the country's ambassador to Russia, considering this an unnecessary step.
He said this in an interview with Lidovsky.cz
— I would be glad to hear from the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary the arguments why we should appoint an ambassador to Moscow now, — Pavel noted.
He added that he cannot imagine the return of the Czech ambassador to Russia.
Now they are watching
The Czech government is considering the possibility of changing the ambassador to the Russian Federation and his return to Moscow.
Currently the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Russia is Vitezslav Pivonka, but he left the Russian capital and has been in Prague for some time.
Recall that in June the Czech government approved report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the review of relations with Russia, in which it is named as a source of threats and risks to the security of the Czech Republic and Europe in the coming decades, unless a fundamental transformation of Russian society occurs.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky previously said that official Prague does not see prospects for establishing relations with Russia even if its leadership changes, until the country undergoes significant changes and ceases to be a threat to its neighbors.
