An international group has been created in Ukraine to help victims of Russian war crimes/State Emergency Service
The International Legal Working Group on Liability for Crimes Committed in Ukraine includes the world's leading human rights lawyers.
Among they are the former head of the Supreme Court of Great Britain Lord Neuberger, royal counsel Richard Germer, royal counsel Tim Otti, Baroness Helena Kennedy, head of the Human Rights Institute of the International Bar Association and others.
How the Working Group will help Ukrainians
Representatives of the organization will be able:
- To provide advice on the prosecution of suspected war crimes. In particular, through the UN and regional organizations.
- Advise and provide representation in civil and criminal cases falling under the laws of universal jurisdiction. This will help bring those responsible to justice and get reparations.
- Help Ukraine cooperate with the International Criminal Court.
It is important that the representatives of the group will work absolutely free of charge.
They will also receive assistance from reputable scientists in the field of international law and organizations: Professor Marko Milanovic from the University of Nottingham, Professor Andrew Klepem from the Geneva Academic Institute, the Center for International Governance and Dispute Resolution at King's College London, the Clooney Foundation for Justice and the Human Rights Institute of the International Bar Association.
