The day before, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen arrived in Ukraine on a visit. It is known that it has a great influence on American politics.
One should take into account the fact that the United States is providing Ukraine with an unprecedented amount of assistance. This was announced to Channel 24 by a political expert, head of the Center for Public Analytics “Tower” Valery Klochok.
Must control the process
Over the previous 10 months, Ukraine received military and financial assistance from the United States totaling more than $100 billion. As the political expert notes, it is clear that the United States uses these funds from the taxes that the Americans pay, so the government must report to them.
I think that this visit is related to the assessment of the effectiveness of the use of funds that are provided, and the prospects for further cooperation. It is important that officials of this level, coming to Ukraine, show their citizens that these issues are under control, Klochok believes.
According to him, it is necessary to take into account how and from whom financial assistance was received. For example, the IMF supported us rather weakly. But the United States did it very seriously, they were able to convince the European Union of the need for assistance.
“Today, the United States shows that they play a key role in shaping foreign policy in support of Ukraine. For this, they are truly insanely grateful,” Klochok summed up.
What will be the help in 2023
- This year, the United States pledged to provide our state with over $10 billion by September. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmihal said this after a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
- According to him, the United States also supports Ukraine in the direction of the speedy recovery of the energy sector. Shmigal added that an important point of joint work is the creation of the Multi-Donor Financial Coordination Platform, which allows for effective coordination of the work of the G7 countries and all international financial organizations, including the IMF and the World Bank, on financial support for Ukraine, as well as other issues related to this area.
