On Tuesday, April 30, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe instructed the Secretary General to prepare documents that could potentially lead to the conclusion of an agreement with Ukraine on the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression.

This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba on the social network X (formerly Twitter). He noted that this is an important step.

“This important decision instructs the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to prepare the necessary documents to facilitate consultations in The key group on the issues of the tribunal and the potential draft agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe on its actual creation,” the Ukrainian minister noted.

In addition, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe approves further work on a possible additional agreement on the financing of such a tribunal.

Kuleba noted that work is now underway to launch a tribunal, which will be important not only for Ukrainians.

“We continue to work to ensure that a fully functioning tribunal carries out this justice. This is critical not only for all Ukrainians who have suffered as a result of Russian aggression, but and for all peoples who strive to live in a peaceful and safe world,” the diplomat summed up.
