An important point: why do the Poles see great competition in Ukrainian grain?

Poland has decided to introduce an indefinite embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products. Meanwhile, the European Commission is demanding the ban be lifted.

This is 24 Channelscommented Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denis Marchuk, noting that Poland should have lifted the import ban on September 15. However, then it was continued again.

There are several aspects among the reasons for such events. One of them is political. Currently, a new coalition government has been formed in Poland.

“Over the past 10 years, the previous government managed to consolidate and install a lot of its people who remain their supporters. In particular, among representatives of the public sector,” said Marchuk.

These people, contrary to the new orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, still continue to act as they did. One of the factors in such actions is academic. plan of preferences for domestic producers.

If you look at the requirements that once again formed by Polish farmers, then subsidies are provided there for growing corn and the possibility of extending the lending system on preferential terms.

And also the possibility that commodity producers could actually work fully within the limits of currently existing subsidies.

Therefore, in fact, we see a situation in which decisions are expected in the near future. After all, the Polish side stated that they are ready not only to verbally support Polish producers, but are also ready to sign it. – noted the Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.

Very big competition for Poland

In Poland they always emphasize that they are looking for a way out of the situation. However it’s not worth itexpect the problem to be resolved quickly. An important point is that over the past decades the Poles have been quite active in partially monopolizing the eurozone market for the sale of their products.

“Now in such a difficult time for Ukraine, without being able to fully export by sea, war, occupied territories, but the Ukrainian manufacturer in such conditions is still competitive and begins to sell its products on the European markets,” Denis Marchuk emphasized.

The Poles, in these conditions, see this as very big competition. And the benefits that they received in recent years, subventions, support and opening of markets allowed them to fully present their products.

And Ukraine, meanwhile, without any support, and only thanks to quality and cheaper productscomes in and actively occupies these markets.

“Therefore, one of the methods that they decided to use to close part of the eurozone markets in an illegal way is to use their own against such blocking methods,” – added Marchuk.

Illegal methods

These methods exist illegal and contrary to all eurozone norms in the context of free trade and movement, as well as the absence of duties and quotas. This contradicts the agreements between Ukraine and the EU and the principles of European integration. They were assumed by the Ukrainian state together with the eurozone and the European Union in the context of Ukraine's political accession to the European community in the future.

Therefore, the position of the European Commission on the embargo should not only be a bureaucratic reply, but there should also be certain steps. Most likely, these could be certain fines, sanctions, including certain political decisions , which would encourage the Polish side to be more active in addressing the problem.

For example, an import ban is also a violation . If we talk about Ukrainian-Polish relations regarding Ukrainian imports, then this is not such a large share in the Ukrainian economy. However, if we talk about the ban on transit and the ability to sell their products in the eurozone, then this is a very large volume.

This ban actually creates difficulties for the use eurozone infrastructure in the context of exporting our products to third countries. And on this issue, a very strong position is really required that would lead to the resolution of such situations,” Marchuk emphasized.

Ban from Poland
