An easy target: will Republicans continue to criticize Biden over aid to Ukraine?

Republicans have expressed dissatisfaction with the Biden administration's policy of insufficient oversight of financial aid for Ukraine – this could affect voter support in the upcoming race for the presidency.

The criticism voiced by Republicans to Biden about supporting Ukraine has been going on for a very long time. Dmitry Sherengovsky, vice-rector of UCU and a political scientist, told Channel 24 that such accusations will be heard before the end of the elections in the United States.

< p>“Now Biden is a convenient target, so any argument will be used in the election race,” the political scientist noted.

Race in the US elections

According to polls of voters in the US, Biden and Trump receive almost the same amount of support. They will fight for every vote in a variety of ways.

After signing the Ukraine bailout bill, Congress tasked the Biden administration with 60 days to present a plan for how the United States America should continue to help Ukraine.

One of the criticisms towards the White House may be that there is no plan for Ukraine’s victory, or it will seem insufficiently thorough. We see that internal battles are beginning,” Sherengovsky noted.

Problem for Ukraine

The political scientist emphasized that in the United States this budget year ends in October 2024. Aid for Ukraine has been approved – weapons and funding will continue to flow.

However, it is unknown what will happen in the next budget year. Whether there will be any compromise before the US elections is very doubtful. We are in an uncertain situation. Despite mutual accusations in the two parties of the United States of America, we will have to build bridges between both, said Dmitry Sherengovsky.

US Help for Ukraine

• The US House of Representatives on April 20 supported the decision to transfer more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. During the meeting, the amendments were reviewed – they were all rejected. It is worth noting that they were negative for our state.
• The United States is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine in the amount of $1 billion. The new aid package includes capabilities to support Ukraine's immediate needs: air defense, artillery shells, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.
• On the evening of April 24, US President Joseph Biden signed a bill to help Ukraine and others partners. Soon the United States will send assistance to Ukraine that is needed for further struggle. The American President has previously repeatedly emphasized that he wants to do everything to advance this aid package as quickly as possible.
