Anatoly Voloshin, pastor of the Good Changes Church in Mariupol, was released from Russian captivity on March 7. The pastor who defended Mariupol was considered dead.

Pastor Gennady Mokhnenko said that Anatoly Voloshin was fired as part of the March 7 prisoner exchange. For several months, as Mokhnenko noted, Voloshin was considered dead.

Gennady Mokhnenko said that Voloshin was seriously wounded during the defense of Mariupol. The pastor also went through Azovstal, which the Russians had been bombing for several months.

Ukraine freed defenders from Russian captivity

  • On March 7, Ukraine returned home 130 people, including defenders of Azovstal, Bakhmut and Soledar. The exchange of prisoners took place with the participation of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guardsmen, border guards and GOST.
  • In particular, among the returned defenders there were 87 people from Mariupol, 71 of them from Azovstal, as well as 35 people from the area of Soledar and Bakhmut. Most of them were seriously injured.
  • According to Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets, the youngest fired was less than 21 years old, and the oldest will soon turn 64 years old. Everyone will receive medical care and will be able to restore bank cards and documents.
  • Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak reported on the successful exchange and expressed gratitude to everyone who helped to conduct it.
  • Another large-scale exchange of prisoners took place on 16 February. Then Ukraine returned 100 defenders from Russian captivity, as well as one civilian. The civilian was Ivan Samoydyuk, the first deputy mayor of Energodar.
