The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas spoke about the possibility of lifting sanctions against Russia. She emphasized that this is about leverage over the aggressor.

The head of European diplomacy stated that sanctions against Russia are definitely necessary.

This is our leverage, and it would be very strange to refuse it. Putin has not changed his goals, Kaja Kallas emphasized.

She added that there are therefore no grounds for lifting the sanctions yet. In addition, she noted the importance of not lifting them prematurely.

Whatever the negotiations are like, we will find ourselves in a much weaker position, the EU diplomacy chief noted.

Kallas also does not think that lifting the sanctions is in the interests of the United States now.

Recall that the day before, the Hungarian Prime Minister once again made a cynical statement. In particular, Orban called on the EU to “create sanctions-free relations with the Russians.”
