Americans warned about the danger of terrorist attacks in the center of Istanbul

by alex

Tourists in Turkey have been warned of possible terrorist attacks. Such statements at the Foreign Ministry level were made in several EU countries and the United States.

The US consulate warned its citizens about possible terrorist attacks.

Tourists were advised to first be vigilant “in places frequented by Westerners” as well as:

  • avoid crowds and crowds,
  • don't trust strangers,
  • monitor the site embassies “to keep up to date with the latest warnings and messages for US citizens.”

Practically similar advice is given to its citizens and consulates of France, Spain and the German Foreign Ministry. Caution will not prevent all tourists, including Ukrainians who had to flee the war.

Potentially dangerous cities in Turkey

It is interesting that the warning from the Italian consulate are listed cities in which tourists are advised to “be careful.” Among them are:

  • Istanbul,
  • Ankara,
  • Izmir,
  • as well as “the most famous tourist and coastal destinations”.

It should be recalled that on November 13, an explosion was heard in the tourist part of Istanbul. Then 81 people were injured and 6 people died. The explosion was heard at 16:20 outside Ankara on Istiklal Street. Doctors, rescuers and law enforcement officers left the scene of the incident. The authorities forbade journalists to broadcast live and blocked the street.

Why are they now talking about possible terrorist attacks

In Stockholm near the Turkish embassy Danish-Swedish politician Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran, the holy book for Muslims. After that, Turkey stressed that they would not support Sweden's entry into NATO. In the end, the process of joining the Alliance for this state really stopped temporarily.

Finland sees a Russian trace in this provocation. This was stated by Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto. He hinted that Russia may be involved, because the disruption of North Atlantic integration is beneficial to the Kremlin
