Most Americans support providing military aid to Ukraine and using American weapons to strike deep into Russia. However, not everyone believes that our country can win, gaining full control over all territories.
This is evidenced by a recent poll published by the Ronald Reagan Institute.
American attitudes toward continued support for Ukraine
According to the National Defense Survey, 55% of respondents expressed support for continued security assistance to Ukraine. Last year, this figure was 59%.
Now watching
35% of Americans voted against supporting Ukraine. They believe that this is not the US's business.
However, if they are reminded that America would have to enter the conflict if Russia threatened its NATO partners, 31% of them are ready to reconsider their position.
At the same time, the majority, namely 80% of Americans, consider Russia an enemy of the United States, and 79% of respondents believe that the Russian Federation could attack a NATO member in Europe.
Researchers pointed out that opinions regarding the war are highly dependent on political views. Among Democratic voters, support for Ukraine is 74%, while among Republican supporters it is only 42%.
It is noted that support for Ukraine is significantly dependent on how Americans assess the progress of the war. Among those who believe that Kiev will win, 77% are ready to continue providing assistance.
Among those who think that Moscow will win, 50% believe it is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine.
Despite the support, 41% of respondents fear that Ukraine may lose. Almost 60% of Americans believe that the war will end with peace talks, even if it means ceding part of Ukraine's territory.
