An Americanist answered whether the US is having behind-the-scenes conversations with the Kremlin Anzhelika Galesevich

The administration of US President Donald Trump may indeed be holding behind-the-scenes talks with Russia about war. However, this is not about agreements without Ukraine's participation.

The purpose of such contacts is to determine the real positions. Political scientist and Americanist Alexandra Filiponenko shared this assumption with Channel 24, emphasizing that the mediator could be a famous American TV host.

Which clearly indicates the US position on the war in Ukraine

The political scientist and Americanist assumed that behind-the-scenes conversations are indeed taking place between the US and the Kremlin in order to determine the real positions of the aggressor country. The dialogue is likely taking place through Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host who interviewed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for many hours.

Recalling the times of the Cold War, all contacts were prepared in advance and discussed by large groups of people: first behind the scenes, then in the open. At that time, there was also a serious confrontation between Moscow and Washington, but there were no secret agreements. They only tried to discuss some topics that were subsequently raised during a telephone conversation.

Therefore, such steps exist, but they are not at all connected with any behind-the-scenes agreements without Ukraine's participation, – Alexandra Filiponenko emphasized.

The decision of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, based on the order of US President Donald Trump, to suspend all foreign aid for 90 days, was indicative. Then everyone wondered: does this concern Ukraine?

However, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that military aid to our country will not stop. It can be assumed that it was Trump's personal decision not to include Ukraine in this restrictive list. This is precisely evidence of the Americans' perception of how to act, and certainly not in favor of some kind of “behind the scenes” agreements with Moscow.
