South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg knocked down a pedestrian to death as he crossed a highway in the dark. He initially told the police that he had hit a deer, CNN reports.
The incident took place on Saturday evening, 12 September. On Sunday morning, police found the body of 55-year-old local resident Joseph Bover on the highway.
The patrol services reported that they are routinely investigating the accident. It is not specified whether Ravnsborg stopped the car after the collision. The representative of the Office of the Prosecutor General on his behalf expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured that Ravnsborg is ready to fully cooperate with the investigation.
However, Ravnsborg was not available for comment. The channel notes that he is a member of the US Republican Party and was elected to his office in 2018.
In March 2018, in St. Petersburg, a Range Rover driver, who introduced himself as a prosecutor, almost hit two people at a pedestrian crossing, and then began to threaten them. He was found and forced to apologize to the camera, it turned out that he does not serve in the prosecutor's office.
