Since Europe has found alternative gas supply routes during a full-scale war, the EU does not need to ask Ukraine to reconsider the transit agreement with Gazprom.
This was stated by EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, writes PAP.
She noted that the corresponding agreement allowing Gazprom to supply gas to Europe through Ukraine was extended in 2019 for five years. The agreement expires in December this year. However, as Simson informed, Europe has been preparing for the moment when this contract will end for more than two years.

— We have found alternative supply routes, and there is no need on our part to ask Ukraine to begin any negotiations with Russian companies, — said Simson, who is attending a meeting of energy ministers in Brussels on Thursday, May 30.
In March, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that Kyiv does not intend to continue the agreement with Moscow.
Agreement between Naftogaz and Gazprom
Recall that the contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom from 2019 provides for the transportation of 40 billion cubic meters. gas per year. The expiration of the agreement will complicate the fulfillment of obligations that Gazprom still has to Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
In addition, the cessation of transit will complicate transit to the so-called Transnistria, which is completely dependent on Russian supplies.
