Russian troops in the Kherson direction do not have normal coordination of actions, and Ukrainian troops have an advantage in artillery and drones.
A Russian prisoner of war, a career officer of the Russian Federation and a former commander of a motorized rifle platoon, spoke about this Danil Alferov.
He tells how he arrived in the Kherson direction in early August.
Now they are watching
— It is quiet there relative to other destinations, except that there are such places there, the so-called islands. It was absolute hell there. Because we were not in direct contact with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, there was no shooting battle or clashes with the enemy at that time. But the losses are high, both 200 (killed, —Ed.) and 300 (wounded, —Ed.). On our side, the artillery did not work there, and there was no coordination and communication with the subunits, — he explained.
In addition, Alferov says that the Ukrainian defenders had an advantage in both artillery and drones.
— Initially, we went to the islands by boat. But all the boats were destroyed, after which we waded, through swamps, etc. This is not typical for infantry when performing combat missions in that area, — he says.
The prisoner of war says that his unit was run on the principle of assault troops, which were made up of prisoners.
— I am an officer, but in positions I felt like a sergeant. My task was to appoint people to be sent to the islands, from where they would return either three hundred, or not return because they would die. It was very difficult morally and psychologically. The more three hundredths appeared, the more the moral and psychological state of the soldiers of the Russian army worsened. There were both refuseniks, the so-called 500, and those who were planning to desert. Chaos began, — he said.
We recall that earlier the Main Intelligence Directorate reported on the successful conduct of the special operation Barynya, thanks to which it was possible to recruit a career Russian officer, who brought 11 more occupiers into captivity in Ukraine.
