European countries and NATO see Russia as the number one threat. Czech President Petr Pavel explained why the Kremlin must lose in Ukraine.

In 5-7 years, Russia can restore its combat capability to attack NATO countries. Everything will depend on how the war in Ukraine ends, says ex-NATO general and Czech President Petr Pavel.

Why is it dangerous to freeze the front in Ukraine?

If intense fighting in Ukraine stops and the conflict is frozen, this will allow the Kremlin to buy time to resume aggression against European countries and even oppose the Alliance. Pavel expressed this opinion at a press conference following the meeting of heads of state of the Visegrad Group in Prague on November 22.

According to Pavel, everyone in Europe and NATO perceives Russia as the biggest real threat.

The Czech president is convinced that all European armies must prepare for a possible attack from the Kremlin. This scenario after February 22, 2022 can no longer be ruled out.

The former NATO general stressed that all four Central European countries have a common interest in seeing Ukraine win and Russia lose. They share a common position on the need to fully support Kyiv.

Putin has not given up on his ambitions in Ukraine

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War analyzed the Russian president's speech at the G20 summit. It follows from it that the head of the Kremlin has not changed at all. Putin again repeated propaganda narratives: about the “bloody Euromaidan”, the “hypocritical West”, the “civil war in Donbass”.

ISW believes that Putin has not changed, nor have his maximalist goals regarding the war in Ukraine changed.

According to experts, “a premature cessation of hostilities in Ukraine significantly increases the likelihood of a resumption of Russian aggression on more favorable terms for the Kremlin in the near future.”
