General Staff of the Armed Forces Ukraine on January 20 reported that the enemy had concentrated forces and resources on the assault on Bakhmut and Avdiivka. The defenders manage to repel the attacks.
Over the past 24 hours, in the Bakhmut direction, the Russians have shelled Verkhnekamenskoye, Vyemka, Belogorovka, Soledar, Krasnaya Gora, Bakhmut, Kleschievka, Belaya Gora, Kurdyumovka and Maiorsk, Donetsk region.
Russians lie about controlling Bakhmut
Kremlin propagandists have already stated several times that Russia controls Bakhmut. However, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby noted that although the invaders have some success, they do not control the entire city. According to Kirby, heavy fighting continues near Bakhmut and Soledar.
Kirby said that the Russians are trying to throw the bodies of their military into Ukrainian positions. It is mainly the Wagnerites who go on the assault.
