Ukraine is preparing to sign 10 more security agreements with partner countries, and the main results of the summit are more air defense, security agreements with the US and Japan, and the use of frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine.

President Vladimir Zelensky announced this following the results of June 13.

Military needs of Ukraine

He stated that during all the days while he is abroad, he remains in touch with the Ukrainian military, and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, reports daily, as do the Minister of Defense and other officials and intelligence. The reports, in general, talk about the situation at the front, as well as data on the main directions — Donetsk, Kharkov regions.

The head of state said that today almost all meetings of the Ukrainian delegation at the G7 summit and on the sidelines of the summit — exactly what the Ukrainian military is talking about.

— About our needs and about our capabilities now if supplies are sufficient and timely. We are talking with all the leaders about speeding up the sending of the declared packages to Ukraine. In particular, we just talked about this with President Biden, — he said.

Vladimir Zelensky said that he had similar meetings on military assistance with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

There was a conversation and meeting with Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan, as well as Giorgia Meloni, Head of the Government of Italy.

— The main result for us — there will be more air defense for our cities. Patriot — this is actually a Ukrainian word. There will be more equipment and other necessary things for the front. It has also been decided on the use of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine, there is the first significant step of the G7 for $50 billion. Thank you!” — said the President of Ukraine.

Security agreements with the USA and Japan

Zelensky recalled that today Ukraine signed two security agreements — with the USA and Japan.

— Historical result with the United States — a bilateral security agreement that takes our relations to the level of a true alliance. This is the strongest agreement with America in all 33 years of our independence. There is a legally binding part of the agreement, there are absolutely useful details on air defense, on aircraft, — Zelensky said.

He added that the leaders had recorded in the agreement that America would help Ukraine supply fighter squadrons — as many fighters as Ukraine needs.

— We will work on this. I also spoke with the leaders about accelerating the training of pilots. What is important — the agreement with America now records that there will be support for Ukraine both in times of war and in times of peace. Really long-term. We see the world in the same way — a fair peace for our people, — added Zelensky.

He also commented on the security agreement with Japan, which became the first such agreement with a country outside NATO, namely from the Pacific region.

— In general, we have brought relations with Japan to a level that not all European countries have. Ukraine appreciates this very much. We work together in the security, political and economic spheres. $4.5 billion in support from Japan has been recorded for this year. We are also interested in Ukraine and Japan being maximum partners in the restoration — in returning normal life to our people. And it will be. We also agreed on this, — he said and thanked Japanese Prime Minister Fumio and the Japanese people.

The Ukrainian leader added that today there are all seven security agreements with the G7 countries, and in general — 17 agreements have been signed. Ukraine is preparing to sign 10 more.

Meeting with the heads of the IMF and WB

The President of Ukraine also spoke about his meeting with the head of the IMF where, in particular, support for Ukraine, Ukrainian institutions and society was discussed.

— Thank you for your understanding, — he said briefly.

In addition, Zelensky had a “very inspiring meeting” with the head of the World Bank, where they discussed support for Ukraine’s energy sector, as well as access for people, companies and government institutions to the necessary funds to restore destroyed energy capabilities and build new ones.

World Summit

At the very end, the Ukrainian leader thanked all Ukraine’s partners for supporting the Peace Summit and helping to attract leaders and states.

— Together, the world can definitely restore justice and bring back an honest world. We do everything for this, — he said.

Zelensky recalled that the first — inaugural — The peace summit will begin on June 15, where the “first real step towards a fair peace” will be taken.
