Zelensky and Trump discussed protecting Ukrainians from Russian attacks, primarily the purchase of American air defense systems to protect our cities, people, churches, and infrastructure.
– Ukraine is ready to buy this equipment and support American arms manufacturers. Europe can help. We also talked about possible joint production of drones. We can strengthen each other, – he said.
Zelensky informed Trump about the progress of the technical team meetings in Istanbul, the exchange of prisoners and the dead. He noted that Russia handed over the bodies of its dead. Expertise is currently being conducted in Kyiv to find the relatives of the dead.
The parties separately discussed the situation at the front – Zelensky noted that Putin is definitely not winning. The head of state presented Trump with factual evidence of what is actually happening on the ground.
The President thanked the Ukrainians for the meeting, support and kind words, and stressed their readiness to continue working together.
Trump, in turn, called the meeting with Zelensky very pleasant, although in the past “there were some minor difficulties.”
The talks between the US and Ukrainian presidents took place shortly after the conclusion of the main meeting of NATO leaders and the announcement of the final decision of the summit.
