Air attack June 20: Air defense destroyed five of nine missiles and all 27 Shaheds

On the night of June 20, the Russian enemy attacked Ukraine from the air, using air- and ground-based missiles, as well as Shahed-type attack UAVs.

This is stated in the report of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In total, the enemy launched nine missiles of various types and 27 attack UAVs into Ukraine:

  • four X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft,
  • three Iskander-M ballistic missiles,
  • two guided aircraft missiles X-59,
  • 27 attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type.

The Russians launched Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles from the airspace over the Caspian Sea, and Iskanders from the Voronezh region. Kh-59 missiles were flying from airspace over the Sea of ​​Azov.

The enemy launched attack drones from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk area.

According to the Air Force, the Russians tried to hit critical infrastructure facilities. Main direction of impact — eastern Ukraine, in particular Dnepropetrovsk region.

As a result of anti-aircraft combat, 32 air targets were shot down:

  • four cruise missiles X-101/X-555;
  • one guided aircraft missile X-59;
  • 27 attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type.

The air attack of the invaders was repelled by fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare equipment of the Air Force, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Air defense worked in Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kherson, Kharkov, Kyiv, Cherkassy, ​​Poltava and Vinnytsia regions.
