On Monday, December 30, a delegation from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry arrived in Syria. Several symbolic gestures took place there and important statements were made.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, together with Honorary Consul Tamer Al-Tunsi, spoke with the Ukrainian community in Syria.

Sybiga also emphasized: Ukraine is ready to share with Syria the experience of collecting evidence, investigating and working to bring war criminals to justice for the crimes they committed.

Kyiv is ready to resume education of Syrian students in Ukraine. And already on December 31, more than two dozen trucks will arrive in Syria, which will deliver 500 tons of Ukrainian flour within the framework of the humanitarian program “Grain from Ukraine”.

Kyiv wants to restore diplomatic relations with Damascus

Bashar al-Assad recognized the occupation authorities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, so Ukraine broke off relations with Syria. But now it is ready to open a new page.

Volodymyr Zelensky added in his address: he is waiting for the ministers' report on negotiations with the new Syria. According to him, restoring diplomatic relations and economic cooperation would be right.
