The Russian army has a direct task to capture the Donetsk region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are well aware of this.
This was announced on Channel 24 by military observer Denis Popovich. According to him, the offensive in the Kremennaya-Svatovo area is aimed at 2 targets.
In his opinion, the first goal is to return the territories that the Russians lost during the autumn counteroffensive, namely part of the Kharkov region. There is evidence that they want to attack Kupyansk – for this they are concentrating troops in the Luhansk region.
The military observer named the second goal – Liman. Then the Russians from the north will be able to threaten Slavyansky and Kramatorsk. If they capture Ugledar, they will be able to threaten Maryinka.
Bakhmut, Avdeevka, Krasnogorovka, Maryinka – so we see an arc and along it they would like to advance further to the Donetsk region in order to capture it, – Denis Popovich explained.
He emphasized that he did not say whether the enemy would succeed or not. The military observer only indicates the possible intentions of the Russians.
“As for Bakhmut, the situation is difficult. There was evidence that we were gathering reinforcements there. There is also evidence that this reinforcement had already entered the battle and achieved certain results. But that the offensive of the Russian army in order to encircle Bakhmut was completely stopped “I can’t say so yet. We have to watch and see what happens next,” Popovich summed up.
