In Mali, where a transitional government is in power, they announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. It is worth noting that the Malian authorities consider the Russian Wagner mercenaries to be part of their armed forces.

The country's Foreign Ministry even summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Mali, Yuri Pivovarov, because of his message, in which the diplomat allegedly demonstrated support for the Tuaregs who defeated the Wagner PMC.

What is known about Mali's statement

The transitional government of Mali stated that they had decided to:

  • sever, with immediate effect, diplomatic relations between the Republic of Mali and Ukraine;
  • to appeal to the competent judicial authorities, after the comments of Andrey Yusov and Yuriy Pivovarov, which are “propaganda of terrorism”;
  • take the necessary measures to prevent any destabilization of Mali by African states, and in particular by Ukrainian embassies located in the subregion;
  • officially notify regional and international bodies, as well as states that support Ukraine, that “this country openly and publicly demonstrates its support for terrorism.”

Before this statement in the document A number of accusations have been made against Ukraine. In particular, in relation to representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate Andrei Yusov, who, according to the junta, allegedly admitted the role of Kyiv in the defeat of the armed forces of Mali and Russian Wagnerians.

Mali also believes that the Ukrainian ambassador to Senegal, Yuriy Pivovarov, also allegedly openly demonstrated his country's support for “international terrorism”, in particular in Mali.

Communique published by the transitional government of Mali

Then the Malian junta in the document portrays Ukraine and our government in the “best” traditions of the Kremlin, declaring a “Nazi regime” in our country.

The transitional government of Mali also stated that the actions of the Ukrainian government are allegedly a “violation sovereignty of Mali” and “already go beyond the scope of foreign intervention, are reprehensible in themselves and are clear aggression.”

What important events preceded the communiqué
