New Zealand has once again imposed sanctions against Russia. The list also includes Russian oligarch Alexander Abramov.
In total, 51 Russian oligarchs were included in the sanctions list. The restrictions also affected 24 Russian-backed officials.
New Zealand again imposed sanctions against Russia
Oil, gas, exports and imports of luxury goods such as New Zealand wine, seafood, vodka and caviar were sanctioned.
The oligarch Abramov and his family were banned from entering New Zealand, in particular, their aircraft and ships will be banned from entering the country's airspace and ports.
According to Foreign Minister Nanaya Mahuta, “broad consultations” were held before a decision was made on the oligarch.
If sanctions are applied in full, the losses that New Zealanders will feel are likely to be greater than the losses felt by Mr. Abramov himself, who does not live here and has only a small fraction of his fortune invested in New Zealand, she noted.
New Zealand imposed sanctions against Kadyrov and Putin's relatives
Earlier, New Zealand expanded sanctions against Russia. The new sanctions list includes 19 people, including Russian ministers, members of the Russian Security Council, relatives of Vladimir Putin and the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
The authorities noted that these individuals are part of a network of influence around Putin and used their positions, to threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Recall that the New Zealand government also imposed sanctions on 8 Russian individuals and institutions.
