After Georgescu: Moldova's pro-Russian ex-president declares country's right to Ukrainian lands Margarita Voloshina

The leader of the pro-Russian Party of Socialists of Moldova, Igor Dodon, spoke about “Moldovan lands” in Ukraine, which European politicians allegedly want to divide among themselves.

He made the corresponding statement on Tuesday, February 4. This was reported by 24 Channel with reference to News Maker.

What Dodon said regarding territories

Igor Dodon responded to the recent statement by the far-right pro-Russian candidate for president of Romania, Calin Georgescu, and his territorial claim regarding Ukrainian lands, which will allegedly one day return to Romania.

I would like to make a remark to some politicians of the European Union, Romania and others who are already dividing up the lands of Ukraine. Firstly, the lands that you name, some of them are historically Moldovan, – the former president of Moldova stated.

According to him, “hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who speak the Moldovan language” now live on these lands. A supporter of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin complained that Moldova's status as a maritime state was allegedly taken away.

“Secondly, it was us, Soviet Moldova, who were deprived of our status as a maritime state. They took away the south and the north of the country from us. An illegal decision in the middle of the last century, during the so-called Khrushchev reform,” added Igor Dodon.

Recall that last year, former Moldovan President Igor Dodon distinguished himself with another scandalous statement, declaring that he did not know whether Kherson, Donbass, and Zaporozhye were Ukrainian territory. He holds the same position regarding Crimea.
