European countries that share a common border with Russia are, one after another, trying to close entry opportunities for Russians. Yes, they are already thinking about closing borders to citizens of the aggressor country in Norway.

In particular, there are plans to close the border crossing on the Russian-Norwegian border. This could happen if the number of Russians who want to illegally emigrate to Norway increases.

They want to close the borders for Russians in Norway too

Norwegian Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl said that currently border guards are not recording an increase in the number of border crossings from Russia through the Storskog border point. The head of the Ministry of Justice noted that the situation at the border is not the same as that observed in Finland.

“Traffic is very low and has been this way all fall,” Mehl emphasized.

At the same time, she emphasized that the Norwegian side is actively monitoring the situation on the border with Russia. Therefore, if something happens, I am ready to act quickly.

Perhaps, if necessary, it will be advisable for us to close the border (with Russia – Channel 24) as soon as possible,” the minister added.

The minister’s words were also confirmed by the head of the Storskog border crossing, Tarjei Sirma-Tellefsen. He emphasized that it is still quiet at the border; no increase in the number of people from Russia has been observed.

Estonia and Finland also plan to close the border to Russians

  • The head of the Estonian border service, Veiko Kommusaar, said on November 16 that the Estonian authorities are ready to close border crossings for Russian citizens. This could happen if Estonian border guards see an increase in the number of Russians wanting to cross the border.
  • Kommusaar stressed that Estonia is ready to prevent any illegal migration from Russia. To do this, border guards can completely or partially close the Russian border.
  • Previously, a similar decision was expressed in Finland. They said that the country's authorities are planning to close 4 border crossings for Russian people.
  • This decision is due to the large number of Russian refugees seeking to cross the Finnish border. At the same time, at some border crossings they still plan to leave the opportunity for Russians to file applications for asylum in Finland.
