The NMT passing score is the lowest score with which an applicant can be admitted to participate in the entrance competition.

It is not universal for all universities and specialties, because each institution can independently set its own passing scores in accordance with the chosen areas of training.
In 2025, in order to be able to submit documents to a university, an applicant must score at least 15% of the maximum possible score in each of the four NMT modules.
The competition score is calculated using a special formula that takes into account the results of the test blocks, weighting factors, and in some cases, the average grade of the certificate.
The passing score for a budget-funded form of education is determined depending on the competition for the specialty, the number of state places and the popularity of the educational direction.
The competitive rating score for admission in 2025 is calculated by converting the results for each subject block of the NMT into a scale of 100 to 200 points.
In 2025, the Ministry of Education of Ukraine determined separate weighting factors for each test depending on the chosen specialty, which are taken into account when calculating the final competitive score.
In particular, for applicants to specialties such as C3 International Relations, D4 Public Management and Administration, D8 Law, D9 International Law, I1 Dentistry, I2 Medicine, I3 Pediatrics, I4 Medical Psychology and I8 Pharmacy, the minimum competitive score is 150 , both for budget and contractual forms of study.
For other specialties, the competitive threshold for admission to the budget is at least 130 points , with the exception of certain preferential categories, in particular, children of deceased military personnel, deceased prisoners or missing persons.
That is, according to the Ministry of Education, in order to qualify for budgetary education, an applicant must score at least 130 competitive points on average in four subjects. At the same time, for medical and legal specialties, a higher passing threshold has been established – at least 150 points .
What are the passing scores for admission to the budget in 2025?
To enroll in a higher education institution, you must pass the passing score for the 2025 NMT. That is, score the minimum number of test points so that the results are counted for participation in the competitive selection.
Minimum scores for admission to the 2025 budget for each subject:
- Ukrainian language – you need to score at least 7 test points, the maximum test score for the Ukrainian language is 45;
- Mathematics – at least 5 points out of 32;
- History of Ukraine – at least 8 points out of 54;
- Ukrainian literature – from 7 points out of 45;
- Biology – at least 7 points out of 46;
- Geography – minimum 7 points out of 46;
- Physics – not less than 5 points out of 32;
- Chemistry – you need to score at least 6 points out of 40;
- Foreign language – minimum 5 points out of 32 possible.
To be admitted to a contract, as a rule, it is enough to have 100 points, but the specific number is determined by each educational institution separately, depending on the competition.
