Ukrainian activists in Brussels on June 12 demand Ukraine's candidate status for EU membership. They formed a human chain.

More than a thousand people gathered near the building of the European Commission. They held hands and sang the song “Chervona viburnum”. The activists brought state flags and EU flags with them, people also dressed in yellow and blue colors.

Ukraine and the EU are one family

Thus in a symbolic way, people demonstrated that Ukraine and Europe are one family. The activists asked to support Ukraine's application for the status of a candidate for the European Union. It will be considered at the next EU summit on June 23-24.

  • Ukraine applied for EU accession a few days after the Russian invasion. It was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

  • The Office of the President hopes that the decision will be positive. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this could strengthen not only Ukraine, but the entire EU. Therefore, we will work even harder at all levels to become a candidate.
