A car accident occurred in the city of Varash in the Rivne region. The driver ran over a woman who was driving a stroller. As a result of the accident, a one-month-old baby died.

As reported by the Rivne Region Police, on January 21 at about 16:45 on Parkova Street, the driver of a Dacia car ran over a 32-year-old local resident of Varash.
She was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing with a baby carriage. The impact caused the baby to fall out of the carriage. The child was hospitalized in intensive care.

However, the doctors were unable to save the life of the boy, who was only one month old. The baby died approximately an hour later.
According to preliminary information, the woman was not injured. Doctors are still examining her.

According to the National Police, the driver of the car was sober according to the examination. According to the 49-year-old resident of Varash, he was distracted by a phone call.
The issue of detaining the driver in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine is currently being decided.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of the victim).
