Russian speakers switch to Ukrainian/pravdatut.ua
Due to armed aggression Russia against Ukraine, a large number of the Russian-speaking population began to switch to the Ukrainian language of communication. And experts say they shouldn't be pressured now.
This was told by the director of the sociological group “Rating” Oleksiy Antipovich on the air of channel 24.
He says that part of the Ukrainians, who communicated at home exclusively in Russian or in Russian and Ukrainian, now wants to go only into Ukrainian.
Antipovich says that now there is a shift of those who communicated in Russian to the category of those who communicate or are going to communicate in Ukrainian.
About a third of the Russian-speaking population says they are going to switch to Ukrainian in the near future. And even more of those who used to communicate in everyday life in two languages are switching to Ukrainian now. There are 2/3 of them,” he stressed.
The director of the Rating sociological group assured that this process is underway and there is no need to put pressure on it, because this can create some resistance.
” Let people understand, learn, try. Let it go at its own pace, and there should be nothing Russian here,” Antipovich emphasized.
According to him, it is most evident from social networks that people are starting to switch to Ukrainian language.
